“Read More” Tag

I know this question has been asked before, and I have looked through them, but still can figure out how to get the “Read More” tag to work!

Here’s what I am doing:
– I have created my “Home” page which I want to add articles to
– I go to Manage > Pages (select the page) > Edit
– Include the article, and click on the (Split post with More tag) icon, and see the effect, as well as the “More” icon in the article
– I click publish, and go to see the finished result
– But, no change! The whole article remains without being split.

What is everyone else doing to make theirs work?
