    Hello,
I’ve been working with a site for a few months now. It’s been horribly slow-loading and out of no where will have errors establishing a database connection.

The blog is hosted with Yahoo. The site has been running, all be it slow, reliably for several weeks. I currently cannot log into the site, or the administrator panel. I’ve checked the wp-config and everything is the same as it was while the site was operating. I haven’t added plug-ins or anything that would compromise the integrity of the site lately.

Once this problem is fixed I will need to install WP-Cache or Super Cache. My previous attempts, even with Yahoo support helping, have been unsuccessful. If someone could provide assistance here too I would be most grateful.

I’d really appreciate any help, be it links or advice. I’ve read through these forums too many times and found nothing helpful. Searching Google has also been unfruitful.

    Thanks!

I went to back up the content of the site through phpMyAdmin and each time I’m given a 505 error.

Now when visiting the index of the site it’s showing me WordPress Installation. This would be a huge kick, as this site has been heavily worked on for several weeks. I have a backup, but it’s from a week or so ago.

What can I do to avoid losing the information built, and what caused this incredibly inconvenient and seemingly random terror?

    1. Get a decent host.
    2. You need to get into your database because you have corrupted tables that need repair. Most likely the wp_options table. ASAP!

The host isn’t up to me unfortunately. I work with a company who’s placed all their eggs in the Yahoo hosting basket.

What can be done to repair the tables without loosing information?

In phpMyadmin you have the option “Repair table”.
If you cannot access it – Y! should help you.

You’re right, it was wp-options alright.

Handy thing this phpMyAdmin. Thanks for steering me into the right course!
