    However, the code tags dn’t seem to be stopping the code from appearing as it normally would – can anyone tell me what’s wrong?

  • regardless of what the tag is called, it’s not magical… to do what you want, you’ll have to replace the < > with their html-entity equivalents: &lt; and &gt;
