Fatal error in the output may indicate either your theme doesn’t like 3.1, you have a plugin that doesn’t like 3.1, or you have an incomplete upgrade.
So, try:
-deactivating ALL plugins temporarily to narrow down and possibly fix the problem. If the problem goes away, activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin.
If you don’t have access to your admin area, try deactivating them manually via FTP or phpMyAdmin.
-switching to the default theme (“twentyten”) for a moment by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes. The idea is to force WordPress to fall back to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific issue.
If you don’t have access to your admin area, then access your server via FTP or SFTP or whatever file management application your host provides.
– resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems (because the hooks remain unless plugins completely removed).
-If the above steps do not resolve the issue, download WordPress again and replace your copies of everything EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies. This should replace your core files without changing your content and settings in wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory.
After you are done uploading the new files, point your browser to /wp-admin/upgrade.php
OK…
I tried a manual upgrade before I got those messages.
Now I have deleted all the other themes, except “twentyten” (to clean up a bit)
AND made a plugins.hold-folder for my excisting plugins + an empty folder.
But still nothing… I get the same message when I try to admin login.
So I have a incomplete upgrade?
Thank you for your help so far=)
No such file or directory in D:\Hosting\6545812\html\admin.php on line 30
There is no admin.php file in WordPress.
I have that file under wp-admin, yes
Look at the file path again: D:\Hosting\6545812\html\admin.php
Sorry…:/ I’m really not an expert on these things, so I don’t know what it means…:) or EXACTLY where to look, or how it should look…
There is no admin.php file in WordPress root.
Well, it’s there… So there has to be something wrong with the file I suppose..
If I’m getting it right: in my FTP file manager, under the root, I have my three wp-directories, and under them the rest of the root’s files. And there is my admin.php 6.45 KB
That’s definitely wrong. Download a fresh copy of WordPress 3.1.
Delete all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – inside your wordpress folder.
Then re-upload the fresh copies – except the wp-content folder – from the fresh download.
so nothing else of my old setting will go lost?
Your content and settings are all stored in your database – not in files.
You need to confirm which version of WordPress you are using and download the correct version from the release archive.
Finally!=) When I went through the content-site in my hosting-office i discovered that the “Valued Applications”-site had an upgrade notice for me! So I tried that one and it worked!=)
So now I can login to my admin and now have the latest version of wordpress.
But…nothing happens when I visit my website… Hmmm…
So what do you think is wrong when my site is all blank?
No problem now to login to admin… But no site showing…
