• Hello. I hope this is the right place to post this at, if not then I’m sorry. For a few days ago I went sick and tired of human bots that kept registering on my site, so I did a few changes to not have any one to log in. Today after been very busy, I decided to go to my site to do some works, but I can’t log in. Only that shows up is page not found with the words: Apologies, but the page you requested could not be found. Perhaps searching will help and I can’t reach the dashboard/admin either

Is there anyway for me to be able to fix this because I really not want to start over again.

    Kindly Regards,
    Lill

  • What changes did you make? It sounds like a permission issue. Did you change your .htaccess file?

Hello. In the dashboard I went and changed some settings so no one can register and not sure now if I also made the permission so no one could log in. I have a back up that I made before this so I guess thats the only thing I can use now to go back to normal right?

Just installed a new WordPress on another hosting I have and the only thing I did was that I unchecked the Membership “anyone can register” under General. I also before that tested out a few new log in plugins. Gonna check my cPanel before I use the back up.

I can’t imagine unticking anyone can register would have done it. I’d be curious to know what caused it. Have you tried renaming the plugins folder to disable them since you can’t login?

Thank you, I will try that out to see if that sort it out 🙂

Thank you so much, it work’t 🙂 I now going to delete the plugins I installed that may have caused the problem, before I rename the plugin folder again.
