• I’m developing a couple of designs and on both I cannot add a comment area for my post. This is the message on all post pages: “Comments on this entry are closed.”

    Under Settings, Discussion all of these are checked:

    Attempt to notify any blogs linked to from the article
    Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks)
    Allow people to post comments on new articles

    I have checked everything under Screen Option for all posts.

    I’m at a standstill with my design. How can I fix this?

    to rule out any plugin/theme specific issue, have you tried:

    – deactivating ALL (yes all) plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).

    I did try that. I have the same problem even with all plugins deactivated.

    How about if you switched to the default Twenty Fifteen theme WITH ALL plugins off?

    Tara, I didn’t see this last night, but just checked and that does remove the comments closed section. So what does that mean? Is there an issue with the theme I’m working on?

    To find out, try switching to the default Twenty Fifteen theme WITH ALL plugins off.

    Tara, I did turn off the plugins and switched to Twenty Fifteen and the “comments closed” message wasn’t there.

    So, I guess I should assume that the problem is with the theme and not WorkPress or plugins?

    Yes – your theme seems to be the problem.

    – try uploading a fresh copy of your theme.
    – If the issue persists, contact your theme’s developers.
