Preview button read more button

    What is the purpose of the “preview”button (the looking glass) on the portfolio item?
    How does it work, is there some documentation/help how it can be used.

    Same for the read-more button. I assume it provides more text of an item.
    Using in the editor “read more” button displays the “more” , function does not seem to work. Is there documentation/help on this topic ?

    I now understand how it works.

    Within the pluging/theme i use it does not work. Help would be welcome.
