Post Tumbnail Navigation

I am trying to create a portfolio page for a site I’m working on. I cannot seem to find a plugin that does everything I need it to do.

I have three categories of posts that I would like to display in three different pages.

I would like for the 1st post to appear on the page, but at the bottom are thumbnails (of featured images) from the rest of the posts in that category.

When someone clicks on the thumbnail, the post assicated with it shows up in the top post position.

I’ve looked at sliders, but can’t quite find what I am looking for. If you have any suggestions I would really appreciate it.
