• I have upgraded one of my WPs using the automatic upgrade. I think I may have been rnning 1.2 and did the upgrade to 2.7.1.

It reports back as successful. The new dashboard is displayed, but the interface for adding or editing a post is the same old. It lacks most of the features of the newer editor such as the Visual / HTM toggle and the kitchen sink.

Any suggestions for completing the upgrade will be appreciated.

  • Did you delete the old files before upgrading? Might redo Steps 7 and 8 of Upgrading WordPress Extended.

No, I did not, because the upgrade was (supposed to be) automatic (as my post says). What kind of upgrade is reported as successful when it obviously is not? What kind of “automatic” requires file deletion? And which files should be deleted?

Based on the number of posts involving failed and broken and otherwise fubar upgrades, it may be worth waiting for an upgrade to fix the upgrade.

Meanwhile, I sure would appreciate a constructive response on how to fix the situation I have. I apologize if I seem churlish but this is a frustrating thing.
