Post Excerpt without Continue Reading text

I am using TwentyTen theme and want to do following customizations:

1> Homepage should display post excerpts with “Continue Reading” link to post permalinks.

2> On single post pages, I want to display items like this:

My problem is that the post_excerpt() function always returns value with “Continue Reading” link which is desired only on homepage. I want to display post excerpt on single post pages as well but without “Continue Reading” link.

Any solution?
