Yes – it’s possible but the easiest method of doing this depends upon your current theme. Does it support widgets?

Esmi, I am not sure! I am using the Twenty Ten theme.
In that case, your theme does support widgets. Go to Appearance/Widgets and add the Search form and Archive widgets to your Primary Widget Area. These will replace the default content in the upper part of your sidebar – including the Meta block.

OK, I see esmi. What I did was I dragged meta out of the PW area and I dragged search into the PW area. That removed meta and replaced it with a search box. Just curious to know why you suggested to also drag archives into the PW area. Is there a reason for that? Thanks.
I simply assumed that you hadn’t added any widgets to the sidebar. An archive listing is part of the sidebar default content in the 2010 theme.

How do I log into my blog in order to edit once I have removed the Meta block? I realized than as soon as my browser stops remembering my login details, I no longer have a way to login!!
yoursite.com/wp-admin will take you to the admin if signed in, the login page if not
any way to totally remove all, search, meta and archive? I could only find 2-3 year old topics about this. I have removed the widges from the sidebar. I also have tested moving the mentioned widgets into disabled, still no luck.
Update: So all solutions I have found say I need to be able to code, depending on my theme. Is this really accurate?
