Portfolio (Shortcode Based) Loading issues.

I recently installed the Massive Dynamic theme and have been working with revamping my portfolio site. Previously i was using “Static Layout” for portfolio pages, but now i have started using “Shortcode Base”.

Since, i have noticed a lot of problems with load time of the pages, sometimes the server/DB would be down and i would receive an error with establishing database connection, and resorting to fixing the problem with wp-config/repair. I’ve also had to redo some pages repeatedly while building it with the theme builder comp
onents, because it just crashes the server. I would like to know if this is an issue with the theme? or is it an issue with optimizing in general? I’ve installed optimization plugins like W3 Total Cache, and also using less components than i originally intended.

The home page and about pages i have no issues, but it is always with the portfolio pages that seem to timeout the entire site/server in general. It works perfectly fine until i try to open or edit these problem pages, then the entire site, even wp-admin doesn’t work until i close the loading tab, wait a few minutes and open again. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this kind of down time?
