I have installed polylang plugin to add Russian to my site. When I change the language to Russian on the home page it doesnt stay in Russian when navigating to the other pages – it keeps going back to English.

I have used polylang with other themes and this doesnt happen. Polylang support suggest that it is a compatibility problem with the theme in the menu settings.

Any suggestion of how to get this to work as I don’t want to change themes as virtue is great and planning to use it for two other multi language sites.

  • There have been a lot of people that use this theme and the premium with polylang. This hasn’t been an issue for them. Can you tell me what settings your using for the menu?

    Hi,

    Thanks for your quick reply.

I am using 2.4.8 virtue theme with 1.7.5 polylang plugin. I have set up two menus Main_En set to the primary navigation and Main_Ru set to the primary navigation for the russian content.

However in other themes I found all of the pages names in the left hand drop down list to add to the new menu. This time I could not find the Russian page names so added the English – using the label to add the Russian.

So I think this is why it keeps going back to English. but why wont the russian page names appear in the list to make the Russian menu???

Settings in the polylang are Default: English
    Selected: Remover/language/in pretty links
    Syncronized all options.

Looking forward to your advice as I need to add a third language Arabic.

    Thanks

    Hey,
In your appearance > menus page. Click “screen options” in the top right corner and make sure you have turned on the check box to show all the pages in both languages.

Try that and let me know.

Thank you. The drop down box for screen options didnt have a check box for show all languages – but the black word press bar at the top with the ‘Howdy user name’ has the language flags from polylang with a show all languages option. All sorted. Thank you for your excellent and fast support.
