After much pain and struggle I managed to get a successful upgrate to 2.02 – problems getting it to work unlike every previous version I’ve upgraded to.

Well, now I’ve got it more or less working, but all of my plugins and themes are screwed up. When you look at them in the admin tool they display as their raw code rather than a name or a description or an image. So I go to activate a plugin and there’s the entire text of the plugin where I’d expect the description and name to be. Makes it hard to figure out what I’m activating. Same thing with themes.

Intersesting thing is that once I figure out where to click to activate them they do seem to still work.

    Is this a common problem?

Just to clarify this a bit, it looks like the entire text of the plugin or theme’s main file is being read into the description field in the plugin or theme manager. Is there a way to fix this? Would sure like some help.

Shucks. I can’t convince myself to upgrade because of hearing problems like this.

I’m not sure if problems are so common, or I just have this impression because I read the Support board where everyone who has a problem posts it.

I suspect this is a problem which could easily be fixed because it doesn’t actually interfere with the functionality of the plugins, it just makes them kind of hard to activate and deactivate because it messes up the screen so badly. I currently have to scroll 5 screens to the right to see the activation link.
