Plugins Issues

ISSUE #1
I am having issues with installing plugins. Every one says just to upload into my plugins folder which I have done:
http://www.rockonxox.com/wordpressHELP/1.jpgBut when I go to look at my installed plugins only one of the 5 that I installed (akismet was a preinstalled one) is showing up:

For that plugin that does show as installed I am told by the “how to” guide to go to my options and click on the plugin to edit it:
