neither of those requite a plugin — thats a standard fucntionality in nearly all blogging packages, WP included.
There is no difference really other than the way theyre sent.
sending pingbacks when you link to a site is configurable inside your wp-admin: options –> discussion:
very first checkbox..
Attempt to notify any Weblogs linked to from the article (slows down posting.)
a box for sending trackbacks exists on every write post page
Ok, so whats the correct link to submit a trackback/pingback?
I don’t understand the question.
For PB – you include a link in your post to the other blog’s post.
For TB you put the TB URL of the other blog’s post in the proper field.

Pingbacks are fully automatic. When you link to anywhere in a post, WordPress searches for a pingback and if it can, it sends one.
Trackbacks are manual. You use the trackback section at the bottom of the post page to send those. 99% of the time, you don’t have to bother, simply linking to another site will cause a pingback to work, making the trackback unnecessary.
