I’m not entirely sure what you mean. WP-TOC works by adding the [toc] Shortcode to the posts your want to TOC to appear; essentailly only showing it on the pages you select. Is this what you meant?

Yeah, I meant simply adding a filter that removes the shortcode on the index page for example, useful if you only show excerpts.
Btw I have switched to a different TOC plugin (wptoc), iirc because your HTML didn’t validate.
Great plugin. Works well with WP 2.8.6 and Atahualpa theme.
What about a third option for list type: “none” what gives just line of text with breaks in between.
