The plugin is double foldered. ie the zip contains a folder which contains ‘the’ folder iwswim.
After the folder in the folder prob. Everything has gone hunkey dorey!
Bit of forethought and half a brain and this plugin resembles canine testicles! … or ‘the dogs bo**ax’ if one would care to put it that way. Do the backups, take care of where it installs and it’s a gogo.
Well done folks. Nice one.
This Plugin works fine for me on all on 3 different hosting servers
1x Yahoo Hosting
2x Linux boxes of friends
Mine crashed in exactly this manner, showing me that error. 2 mins of digging around and I got it solved. For some reason the update of the plugin didn’t correctly transfer the files (notably this also happened on auto-upgrade to WP 2.6.1 also).
1) Login to your FTP
2) Navigate to /***Server Path***/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-automatic-upgrade/lib/
3) You should notice some files are missing (for me all 5 were missing)
4) Get the latest zip for the plugin from WordPress.org
5) Upload the 5 missing files yourself
Fixed.

This is why I always recommend that my clients use a hosting company that has a one-click upgrade feature – avoids all of these issues. Thanks for this post though, a client sent it to me and now I’ll really make sure to emphasize using the one-click install instead of this plugin.
Worked absolutely great for me! It was the easiest upgrade I have done.
I dread WP upgrading, but this worked without a hitch, particularly as I have my own custom non-WordPress directories and files contained within the WP installation directory.
I made a manual backup of the WP directory and saved a complete MySQL backup via phpMyAdmin as well as the WPAU provided backups just in case, but all went without a hitch. There was a moan early on about permissions and it asked for FTP details, so rather than try to fix permissions I just went with providing the FTP details. Didn’t really look into the fact that they might have been optional if permissions had been OK. Nonetheless, all went smoothly on two 2.6.1 -> 2.6.2 installs.
This piece of crap worked just one time — then they ‘improved it’
and the last 3 improvements never worked again and only caused major
problems.
I was really hoping this plug-in could help this beginner. I’ve been a bit intimidated to upgrade… so I uploaded it with FTP without problem to my Plug-in page, activated it. clicked on the Automatic update and received this error message:
Warning: require_once(wpau_prelimcheck.class.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/tammy/public_html/Ayrhahm/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-automatic-upgrade/wordpress-automatic-upgrade.php on line 497

Has someone had this experience and found a solution ???
Thanks
