Plugin to replace page editor on selected pages

Hi,

Is it possible to write a WP plugin that would hook into WP and replace the page edit form entirely with a custom one just for some selected pages?

Basically, on a lot of sites we build for clients we often end up with some pages that would require a custom editor to offer more than just the basic content + attributes editing functionalities. For instance it is very often the case with the Home page.

I know there are hooks that allows you to add additional fields or sections to it but I can’t see one that would replace it all entirely.

I’m wondering if this is possible and hoping someone can put me in the right direction?
