• Hi,

I use much bigger thumbnails than 150px (in my case 460px & 400px) on my frontpage and I’m looking for a way to change the jpeg compression amount for the thumbnails, because i get sometimes heavily compressed thumbnails and sometimes thumbnails with the original resolution and i really don’t know why.

so in fact i need a better resolution for the bigger thumbnails on my frontpage if possible.

    thanks in advance 🙂

ps: this is absolutely one of my top favourite plugins for wordpress, so please keep the good work up.

  • Just out of curiosity, do you have wordpress set to generate 460 x 400 thumbnails? (settings > media in wordpress).

If there’s issues with jpeg compression I think it’d be a wordpress problem and not an issue with this plug-in, I don’t think this plug-in is actually doing any thumbnail creation / jpeg compression.

(I changed, in the plug-in, my thumbnail dimensions to 300×300 and my images came out all pixelated– the problem was that it uses the default 150×150 thumbnail image that wordpress creates when I upload images, so it was just scaling the 150×150 up to 300×300, resulting in really crappy looking images. If I were you, I’d go into “settings > media” and set the thumbnail size to something equal to or higher than what you want the thumbnails to display at (that way you can scale down if needed but never worry about crappy resolution when scaling up.)

I haven’t tinkered with 400px+ thumbnails, so I don’t know if wordpress is by default using a higher amount of compression for thumbnail images.
