I simply cannot get this to work:

Type: Post
Additional arguments: “cat=3”

What is the right syntax?

There was a bug regarding this, see more info here:
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-simple-fields-additional-arguments

Hopefully the fixes provides there solved this problem. Let me know if you still have the same problem after upgrading to latest version.
