[Plugin: Online Backup for WordPress] Backups sometimes fail

    I have auto backup set up for Friday of each week.

    Last week however my 2 biggest blogs failed to backup for some reason. The others went through fine.

    Activity log showed the backup failed.

    I then clicked on ‘View Events’ and this is the record.

    I have since managed to manually backup both blogs with no problem, though both took a long time to complete.

    Any idea on what the problem could be?

    Apologies. This seems like it was a temporary problem on our side. I believe it was only intermittent and has since been completely resolved.

    Now I’m getting this on one of my smaller blogs, http://www.oztransport.com and checking back I see the last couple of auto backups failed.

    The backup failed: The server attempted to retrieve the data, but received junk from your blog. This can happen if your blog is not accessible over the internet. Otherwise, you may have a third-party plugin installed that is changing the backup data as the server tries to receive it. Please contact support if this is the case so we may improve compatibility.

    Hi freedom1,

    Did you upgrade any plugins recently or install any new ones? Some 3rd party plugins can cause this problem.

    If you email your username to support “at” backup-technology.co.uk somebody will check the server side logs to see what the junk is we are receiving. Be sure to include “WordPress” in the subject line.

    I just installed the plugin and attempted to do a manual backup with output to email. I got the failure log shown below. What am I doing wrong, or what else do you need to help? Thanks

    Hi veri,

    Can you drop your post in another topic? This one is completed and resolved and yours is a different error message entirely.

    I can suggest you check free space on your web host. You will need to be using less than 50% of your space, because the plugin will need to copy all your data to a backup file before emailing it. So if you are using more than 50% space the backup will fill up your quota and then an error like the one you got will appear.

    If you need additional help, please do raise a new topic so we can keep the forum tidy and make it easier for people to find answers.
