• Hi
i don’t know what happened but since some time, KNEWS stopped worked.

This is what we get as error:

    10:43:30 | PlindoDotCom@gmail.com | SMTP connect() failed. https://github.com/PHPMailer/PHPMailer/wiki/Troubleshooting [smtp]
    * Reset SMTP after fail, result: 0
    10:43:30 | ok: 0 | error: 1 | FINISHED SUBMIT

If i manually sent an email i also get this:
Warning: stream_socket_enable_crypto(): SSL operation failed with code 1. OpenSSL Error messages: error:14090086:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed in /web/htdocs/www.plindo.com/home/wp-includes/class-smtp.php on line 344

SMTP Settings are correct and still the same we’re using since years.
And our contact form deliveries email correctly.

    Help please!

Seems a change on mailserver login. Maybe it expects SSL protocol?

    Regards,
    Carles.

    I’m having the same problem.
I’ve tried using my old SMTP, with booth available configuratons from my hosting provider (SSL and no security), and also gmails (with SSL), and I keep getting the error:

Warning: stream_socket_enable_crypto(): SSL operation failed with code 1. OpenSSL Error messages: error:14090086:SSL

    I solved it.
i’ve just change the PHP Version that my server was using.
    And everything started working again!

    Hi @hsr!
Which PHP Version is using your Server Now?
    Mine is running PHP 5.6.162.0

Thanks a lot for the guidance!

Mine was running the same version but i had to go back on 5.3.29 which seems to be the most supported version they say.

Now everything works fine again with 5.3.29.

Thanks hsr, I’ll try with 5,3,29 and I’ll get back to you!

I can’t not go back to 5.3, my hosting provider does not allow this change for security reasons. Let’s hope we’ll have an uptdate of this great plugin soon enough!

I looks to be solved by the last update.
