Hi, i’ve got a DB problem in restoring the site.

I’m using altervista.org host and at the end of the steps restore i’ve got this message:

Queries that error during the deploy step are logged to the install-log.txt file and marked '**ERROR**'.

    Common Fixes:
Query size limits: Update your MySQL server with the max_allowed_packet setting to handle larger payloads.
Unknown collation: The MySQL Version is too old see: What is Compatibility mode & 'Unknown collation' errors?

I’ve searched a lot on internet about it but i’ve not found a solution. Is it a problem of my host (so i’ve to give up) or i can do something to solve it?

    Thanks

  • It could be… What version of MyServer is the host running?

    Hi Cory,
    Thanks for your reply.

I checked the MyServer version and i found the problem.

Is the utf8mb4 db chars code that is not supported by my host.

The upgrade to WP 4.5.3 did the damage :).

Maybe could be interesting add an option, in your amazing plugin, for retro-compatibility?

Anyway thanks a lot, after converted DB to utf8 the problem is gone.
    Thanks

    Hey Anatoli,

When you create the package you can try the compatibility mode option on the database tab. It may not fix your exact issue, but its worth a shot.

    Cheers~

    Thanks Cory,
i’m going to try your trick but i don’t find the option you’re talking about.

    Where i can find it?

    I’m using Duplicator 1.1.14

Goto: Duplicator > Packages > Create New > Archive Section > Database Tab > Compatibility Mode

    Thanks~

    Hi Cory,
    ok that’s the answer…
“This option is only availbe with mysqldump mode.”

I’ve used it in “php mode” so no one checkbox are shown in Database Tab.

I’m going to try your trick.

Sounds Good! I would really try to work with your host to get the proper version of MySQL, that is going to be the proper solution.

    Thanks

    Great!
If you find something, please let me know.

    Thanks a lot.

At this point you may have to try some manual procedures, there are a few that you can try here.

    Hi Cory,

I use ServerPress (base on XAMPP) on Mac.

    I go on /wp-admin/admin.php?page=duplicator&tab=new1
Then on database tab : Compatibility Mode [details]
This option is only availbe with mysqldump mode

-> is there any “tutorial for dummy” to use that mode on Mac !?

My global problem is the host has an older version of MySQL than my local server has. I tried several things, no success so far.

    Thanks for your help
