[Plugin BuddyPress] Registration page not working

so i installed buddypress and now the registration page isn’t working. when users sign up it says it has been created and also even sends the verification email but when i go to sign in with an account i made with it, it comes up as no user found. is there a way to either fix this, delete the buddypress registration, or just switch from buddy press by adding plugins that allow adding friends and messaging like it.
