• Hello,

I get this error when trying to update my themes and plugins:

Basically, it says it cannot create the respective folders.

I’ve tried changing the permissions for the wp-content directory to 777 and my hosting company (A Small Orange) has tried looking into the issue in the WordPress installation but they found nothing:

I’ve looked over your account and all permissions and ownership are correct, however the error is still occurring. Unfortunately no errors are printing server side which indicates it is an issue with the scripts. Can you please try contacting wordpress for direct assistance in getting these plugins updated?

I’ve disabled every plugin as well, but it doesn’t work.

What can be done? Thanks beforehand.

  • I’m quite surprised that these hosting companies recommend you to contact WordPress directly…any hosting company worth its dime knows that WordPress is an open source community with no real support staff, but instead a community of volunteers.

Most of the time this error occurs when your folder permissions are incorrect. Have you changed the folder permissions yourself, or did the hosting company?

    Hello,

    Thanks for your reply.

I did it myself, but they checked and the permissions seemed to be ok. I did it on the wp-content directory… is that enough? Any ideas?

    Best regards,

    Fernán
