    ello,

A few weeks ago I was locked out of my site as I could not remember my password and I was unable to change it. I found a website (that I now cannot find) that suggested a way to access my site without logging on to deactivate all my plugins. This then allowed me to request a new password. I have now found that I do not have a list of my old plugins to reinstall.

    1) do you know what i might have done to deactivate my plug ins?
    2) where I can get a list of my old plugins?

Also now I cannot install any plugins. I just keep getting an error message.

    1) how can I get wordpress to allow plugin installs?

You should know I am a complete novice and do not know about coding.

    Thanks!!
    India

  • One method of sorting out a troublesome plugin or theme is to use cPanel or FTP to change the plugin/theme file name. Or maybe delete the folder.

Maybe you tried that? If you deleted them from your server that way, then I think you lost them. If you changed the folder name, then you might change them back again.

The plugin folder should be under the wp-content folder. If you deleted the plugin folder then we might both be out of our depth! I have no idea what happens to a WP site if that happens and I don’t fancy testing it. 😉

    thanks Marcol

the problem is that i need to reinstall plugins. I do not have a list of the plugins I had and wp is not listing any plugins for me to reactivate. Also when i try to install any plug in it is not allowing me to do so.

Also when i try to install any plug in it is not allowing me to do so

That’s what stumps me. And that’s why I wonder if you used FTP or cPanel to change the plugin folder?

I think you have two problems 1)How did you disable plugins in the first place? 2) What plugins were you using?

I’m afraid I can’t help with either of those and it maybe a starting place might be to just confirm that you have a plugin folder in the wp-content folder?

Maybe someone with more expertise than I will take a look here.

    Hey Martcol.

No worries. It seems I went to blue host and renamed my plugins list and deactivated them there. I called them and they just clicked back onto the original folder for me!

    Yay!

    Phwew!

    Glad you fixed it.
