Please help! Will pay you!
-
Hello, I run a non-profit Org website at http://www.makeachildsmile.org and I use Blogs to post health updates on the sick children that we feature on our website.
I have been using Blogger for quite a while and got annoyed by it being slow, missing posts, etc… (I ONLY use “Blog by Email”, I’ll explain why further down).
I found a very kind soul named Samuel (aka samboll) who installed WordPress on my server and would not accept any payment…. even though I insisted.
I need help now configuring some final touches before I can import all my Blogger info into my new WordPress, but unfortunately, Samuel is having some personal issues with his sick father and cannot help me at this time.
Any other kind soul out there?? I am willing to pay as I understand that not everyone can donate their time.
The Blog is up and running but here are some things I need help with:
Problem #1
I NEED to use “Blog by Email”.. Reason is.. The parents of the sick children will send an update on their child to one of my Volunteers by email. And that Volunteer adds the child’s picture and diagnosis to the update, before posting it to the Blog. It’s much easier for them to send the update from an email than having to log into the Blog to do that.
See how it looks: http://06updates.blogspot.com
Anyway, I installed the necessary plug-ins to make “Blog by Email” work.. and it’s working GREAT! But.. on Blogger, I had help from someone (since I don’t know how to write CSS) where the stylesheet would FORCE the posts to be a certain font size, type and color. I was told to do this:
font-size: 11px!important;
font-family: Verdana!important;
color: #000099!important;It works like a charm on Blogger, but not on WordPress and I cannot understand why…
Look at post named “Big Red”

That was sent as HTML by email.My WordPress needs to accept HTML from “Blog by Email”, but it needs to just force the font to a certain size, color and type. How do I get that to work?
Problem #2
How do you add a “Recent Posts” to the sidebar?
On Blogger, it always displays the last 10 recent posts on the sidebar and when you click on the top one, it will “move” the list up.. (if you have used Blogger, you know what I mean). I would like to have “Recent Posts” do that too on my WordPress.Problem #3
How do you create more Blogs??
I need to have a separate Blog for each year (1998 through 2006) because I separate the children featured on my website, by year. Look below for a few examples on Blogger.http://06updates.blogspot.com
http://05updates.blogspot.com
http://04updates.blogspot.comI thought it was not necessary to create different Blogs because I could just use Categories.. But I ran into 2 problems:
1) If you look at my Blogger examples above, you’ll see that the HEADER of each Blog, has a different image (MACS 06 Updates, MACS 05 Updates, etc..) So if I use Categories on WordPress, then the Header image is always the same on the top!!
2) People subscribe to my RSS Feeds via FeedBlitz and I already figured out how to create RSS Feeds PER CATEGORY, but… If you look at my Bloggers.. You’ll see that there’s a FeedBlitz SUBSCRIBE button on the sidebar. So it’s the same problem that I just mentioned above.. How do I get WordPress to load a DIFFERENT sidebar for each Category that people are in? (because I need to have a different FeedBlitz Subscribe button for 06 Updates, 05 Updates, etc…)
BOTTOM LINE.. That’s WHY I guess I cannot work with Categories and I will need to create different Blogs. Just don’t know how, because if a new database needs to be created for each new Blog, I am stuck, since I don’t know how to do that. Samuel created my installation database.
And last, if I can get help on all this.. Will the person helping me help import all my Blogger posts into WordPress so I can FINALLY start using it??? I CAN’T WAIT!!
Thank you sooooooo much if you have read it this far. I’m sorry this was a really long Post, but I thought I’d lay it all here instead of just saying that I needed help with a couple of things.
Praying that I will hear back from someone soon!!
Thanks,
Alexandra Bakker
