I should add that it is intermittent – that would explain why the site is now ok… *exasperated sigh*
Yep, just looked at the site a moment ago, and it’s functioning just fine at the moment. That would seem to indicate to me that it has more to do with a flaky server than WordPress itself, since it does actually work properly.
Could it be php settings, do you think? I’m looking at my hosts forums and they mention changing php settings and the need to have a dynamic personal php.ini. I’m going to look into this more closely.

If a host is telling you that you should create a more “personalised” ini file, then it really is time to tell them exactly where they can put their hosting – I think that is appalling behaviour.
You need to look for a new host, and putting “Good host” into the search box will turn up a stack of them.
Yea – I am beginning to think that is indeed my problem. *sigh*
