Permalink Error

    Hi

    I just Start a new blog and when i change the Permalink Form the settings Default: http://localhost/ecover/?p=123 to Custom Structure: /%postname%/ and when i Click in the Categories The Category shows error

    Object not found!
    The requested URL was not found on this server. The link on the referring page seems to be wrong or outdated. Please inform the author of that page about the error.

    If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.
    Error 404

    But when i make it Default: http://localhost/ecover/?p=123 again then the category is working!!

    What is the problem? plz suggest. I just want to make the URL SEO friendly.

    I am having the exact same issue. From what I’ve gathered, we have to make sure mod_rewrite or something is enabled and our .htaccess files need modification.

    I know the mod_rewrite on apache on my server is enabled, but I don’t know the first thing about editing .htaccess files – I tried once and lost everything.

    If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks but my issue is not within the settings of wordpress. I know how to change the structure, the problem is when choose the structure I want, it doesn’t work anymore.
