I update our website weekly to show what bands are onstage for the week. I’ve found it easiest to duplicate a previous event and then make the appropriate changes rather than start with a new event each time. The problem is that the Permalink reflects the name of the original event, not the new event, even after I update the event name and save changes.

    Example —

I created one event with the title Test Test
    Default Permalink is: http://108.252.0.219/?post_type=event&p=339

I duplicated the Test Test event and changed the title to Testing Again
    Permalink was changed to: http://108.252.0.219/?event=test-test

In other words, the Permalink of the updated event was renamed to match the original event from which the new one was duplicated.

This is confusing to our patrons because when they click on an event to get more details about the current week’s band the name that appears as the url at the top of the browser page is for the previous week’s band.

I tried the Change Permalinks option and changed it to Post Name but that broke everything. Clicking on every event went to 404 Not Found. Changing the Permalink setting back to Default fixed that problem but left me with my original names-don’t-match problem.

I hope this is just a newbie mistake on my part and it comes with an easy fix.
