• I was trying to add a featured image + excerpt function to my theme and ruined my function.php page.

My page is down and I’m getting a message saying:

“Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘<‘ in /home/johni713/public_html/wp-content/themes/twentyeleven/functions.php on line 543”

I don’t see an extra < in that line. There was one, but I took it out. I think the page is holding on to the one that was there, even though I tried to save over it.

Is there a way to fix this?

Also, I learned about Child Themes after this mistake. Never again!

Sorry for posting again – I fixed it! Phew!

For anyone else – I went into my cpanel, deleted the theme that I had messed up and then uploaded an unedited theme using Filezilla.
