I am very new to this and you could call me a nub for sure. I installed xampp and wordpress only. I just downloaded PHP 5.2.3.
I want to start my own blog with my own .com domain and I am very confused on how to set everything up. I have registered my domain with GoDaddy already. Can anyone give me some tips on how to get started?( as free a possible would be great.) I would greatly appreciate it.

Then buy a cheap hosting package and start learning about the installation. You don’t need anyting else.
To make your own box at home your webserver… it’s too much for a self-declared “nub”, sorry.
You can put a .com domain on wordpress.com (free hosting), but have to deal with the limited access, but is really user friendly. Check out:

Difference is in there between the 2 software packages (.org and .com) from wordpress
