The site is in maintenance mode, so I can’t see anything. If you are referring to the main menu item, yes, it’s possible to set them up so that clicking on them doesn’t do anything. Go to Appearance > Menus from the admin dashboard. On the left should be a section called Links. If you don’t see it, click the Screen Options tab in the upper right corner of the page and check the box labeled Links. The Links section should now appear in the left column.
Create a link by setting the URL to a pound sign # (or hash tag, as some are now calling it). For the Link Text, enter the name of one of the menu items you want to disable (like Portable Restrooms).
Click the Add to Menu button and your new menu item will appear in the right column. Drag the new menu item to the same spot as the identical menu item that you want to replace. Remove the old menu item. Click the Save Menu button to save the menu.
Now, when users click on the menu item, nothing should happen.
okay i will take it off! take a look now!
OK, just follow the steps that I laid out above and create a “parent” menu item using a link of #, and when a user clicks on it, nothing will happen.
ok im a little confused, so under links in URLs, i just place a “#”? then type in Portable Restroom. then “add to menu”. now once it is in the right, what do i do? all i have in the right side is a tab that says “home” and Portable Restrooms”- the one i just made. and i pressed save menu and it didnt work
thanks for the help
OK, so it sounds like you didn’t create a custom menu for your site. Hopefully your theme supports custom menus. You can tell by clicking the Manage Locations tab at the top of the Menus page. Under Manage Locations, you should be able to select the menu that you just saved using a drop-down list.
If your theme does support a custom menu, then click the Edit Menus tab and fill in the rest of the menu by adding the pages from the Pages section the same way you added the first Link. Once pages are on the right column, in the Menu Structure section, you can arrange the order of the menu items by dragging & dropping with your mouse. To make your pages as sub-menu items under the main menu heading, drag it a little to the right so it’s indented.
Once your menu is the way you want it, click the Save Menu button, again.
alrighty thanks this helped so much now i dont have to worry about this problem at all!! thanks again!
