• I’m hoping someone can help. When I create a new page and set it up with a ‘parent’ location, the parent information doesn’t appear in the permalink that is allocated to the page automatically. How do I fix this? I know I can edit the permalink but I want the permalink to automatically include the parent.

  • It will not appear in the permalink of that page in the editor, but once the parent child relationship is established, you will have:

    site.com/parent-page/

and the child page will be:

    site.com/parent-page/child-page/

For SEO, your requested URL will still be ‘parent page child page’

Is that your goal? Or do you need match a previous URL structure for SEO?

I’m thinking I’m out of my depth, now! I have a menu set up with site.com/parent-page/child-page but, when I set up a new page in wordpress and allocate it to the parent, the url that’s automatically generated ignores the parent information. Am I missing a step?
