Page subtitle missing after update

After updating wordpress core to 4.9.8 and themes (Virtue 3.2.8) and switching to https, my Virtue home page subtitle has disappeared. It used to display right below the entry title:

h1.entry-title
p.subtitleNow the entry-title shows “First Beacon Group LLC – Results Through People”, but there is no p.subtitle. It should be “A Human Resources consulting firm committed to improving your business through effective and results-oriented Human Resources services.” and when I “edit page” I can see the subtitle is there, just doesn’t display on the page anymore. In Theme Options > Home Layout “Page Title” is enabled. I don’t specifically see a place to enable “Subtitle.”

I am using theme Virtue Version: 3.2.8 and plugin Kadence Toolkit Version 4.9.1. WordPress Version 4.9.8. (I do not have the Kadence Importer plugin installed. I didn’t think this was important? And it did not cause a problem before.)
Still having same problem of .entrytitle showing just fine, but .subtitle does not show on the page.
