Page not Found

Hi,
we have a problem with our new site using the Craftyblog theme (v1.0.2). The home page when published and viewed through chrome browser, shows a ‘page not found’ message where the blog text should be. We set up a static home page and when the home page is previewed from the dashboard in WordPress, it displays correctly, so don’t understand why the published version appears differently.

We have tried following the step by step guide for setting home pages (Albiet the guides seem to be older versions of the software), different combinations of pages for the two selected pages for the static home page, clearing cache, going into permalinks via settings and saving, all without getting any improvement.
