Hello @callietrinh !
Thanks for reaching out with your question.
Regarding whether to keep or delete old Duplicator packages on your server, ultimately, it’s a decision you can make based on your specific needs and server resources.
Here’s our perspective:
- Server Space: If you have ample disk space on your hosting account, keeping multiple old backups generally isn’t an issue from a storage perspective. However, if space is limited, we recommend keeping only the most recent package or deleting older ones after you’ve secured them elsewhere.
- Management: If you’re confident you won’t need older packages for restoration, removing them helps keep your server tidy and easier to manage.
Most importantly, we highly recommend always keeping a recent backup package stored safely outside your website. For example, you may store a recent backup on a cloud storage. This ensures that in case anything unexpected happens to your website or server, you have a reliable copy readily available to restore your site.
So, while Duplicator provides secure storage, the decision to retain old packages on the server largely comes down to your personal backup strategy and available resources.
Hope this helps clarify things! Let us know if you have any further questions.
