Operation not permitted (!)

    Hi,

    When trying to log in to my admin panel of wordpress @ http://www.zendurl.com/llrscw/wp-login.php I get the normal login page, but after entering my password the following error is returned:

    Warning: require_once() [function.require-once]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(../wp-config.php) is not within the allowed path(s): (.:/tmp/:/home/zendurl/public_html/thefirewall/) in /home/zendurl/public_html/llrscw/wp-admin/admin.php on line 5

    Warning: require_once(../wp-config.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: Operation not permitted in /home/zendurl/public_html/llrscw/wp-admin/admin.php on line 5

    Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '../wp-config.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/zendurl/public_html/llrscw/wp-admin/admin.php on line 5

    Does anyone have an idea what caused this and how I can solve it?

    Have you done an update to the WP software or is this a new install?

    It reads to my non-expert eye like there may be some files missing from the wp-admin folder.

    This is a new install. Just to make sure I replaced all /wp-admin files. This makes no difference.

    Anything else might solve this?

    when you replaced all your wp-admin files – did you get a fresh copy of the files? Could be that your initial download of the zip got corrupted during the transfer…

    Ahh…wait – I googled the error. This is something your host has put in place.

    this error:

    open_basedir restriction in effect

    is what is telltale. It’s a setting your host has set within PHP for shared-server security reasons. You’re gonna need to talk to your host.

    Ohk. Great that I know what the problem is. But, what do you mean in English ;)? What should I ask my host?

    Tell them that WordPress won’t function because their security settings aren’t allowing it. Tell them the error you’re getting – the “open basedir restriction”…
