one page scrolling one column

Why are there no templates (free or otherwise) that allow all blog content to be visible and expanded on the home page e.g. http://www.jonaspeterson.com

I know his site is a prophoto blog but surely there are alternatives that do almost the same thing? All the themes I have found seem to be exerts that are expandable only upon clicking.
