Official Comments Plug-in Based on User Level

I’ve been trying to figure out how to run an extra check for the user’s Role in the Official Comments plug-in from Brett Taylor. I want the plug-in to check if the user is above the Subscriber level prior to assigning it as an official comment. Would anyone know how to do this? Thanks!
