Not receiving emails from form input

I’ve looked all thru this forum, including the various outbound links to the plugin troubleshooting pages, and I’ve tried WP SMTP.
Contact Form 7 has been on our site for over a year. Unfortunately we had a span of time where a position wasn’t filled, and therefore no one was checking the email to which the form was directed.
It came to our attention this week that contact emails were not being received at the address to which they were directed and the database was full of contact submissions.
I submitted several test messages and none were received.
I changed the form to use the Mail 2 as autoresponder and then tested it 3 times, and only once did I receive the autorespond email. No emails went to the address to which the form is directed.
Every test form I submitted resulted in a green notice that my message had been sent.
I read about WP SMTP so I installed it. I tried numerous configurations and could not get a test email (direct from that plugin) to go out. Also, a test form submission showed a red warning that my form could not be submitted at that time. So I removed the plugin.
Site is up to date on Contact Form 7, altho a little behind on WP (for other reasons). We are hosted at Godaddy and use their email, altho some of us use the Mac email client and others use the Godaddy webmail. The emails are not ending up in the Bulk folder.
I very much appreciate any help y’all can offer.
