Hi Peter, is the
<noindex>tag just added whenever you create an outbound link / a link within an article or everywhere on your page (home, about, contact, categories, etc)?It could be that you are using some SEO plugin that automatically adds the noindex to links to pages that you specified not to be indexed. If you have such a SEO plugin you should have a look at the settings of that plugin.
Hi,
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
Just checked the site and it does seem to be all external links only. I currently have ‘All in One SEO Plugin’ but when I disable this the
<noindex>tags dont get removed.Cheers
PeteHi,
Do you have any other ideas?
Cheers
PeteHi,
Here is a list of plugins that are currently active on my site. Does anyone know if these would be causing the issue?
Akismet
All in One SEO Pack
Contact Form 7
Exclude Pages from Navigation
Google XML Sitemaps
My Page Order
NextGEN Gallery
Simply Exclude
SyntaxHighlighter Evolved
Twitter Tools
WP-FLV
WP-ServerInfo
WP Page NumbersThanks
PeteHave you tried:
– deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
– switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?
– resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
Hi esmi,
I disabled all the active plugins and it is still adding the
<noindex>tags.This is very strange.
Thanks
PeteHave you tried steps 2 & 3 yet? It might also help if you posted a link to a page that demonstrated these noindex links.
Hi,
Yeah I reset them as outlined in step 3.
I changed the theme to ‘Twenty Ten 1.1’ and the powered by wordpress link in the footer also had the
<noindex>tag added to it.The issue is currently on my homepage here
Thanks for help.
PeteHi,
Check out the powered and hosted by links in the footer.
Cheers
PeteIt’s either coming from the theme or from a plugin.
Hi,
Ok so I have worked out that its not a theme issues as I have copied the theme to another install of wordpress and it works fine. The footer links don’t have the
<noindex>tag.I have also renamed the plugins folder and tested the site but this doesn’t fix it, when I refresh the hompage the footer links still have the
<noindex>tag.I have also disabled javascript and this still displays the
<noindex>tags.Anyone got any suggestions on what else could be causing it, im running out of ideas.
Cheers
PeteHi,
I have removed all the plugins from my site as you can see here
I has also added the same theme to an alternative blog here
As you can see the alternative site works fine, there are no
<noindex>tags. But my actual site here still has the<noindex>tags even though there are no plugins. What else can be causing this?
Many Thanks
PeteTry asking your hosts. It’s not WordPress.
Hi,
Thanks will do.
Pete
Hi All,
Randomly I came to look at the site this morning and the
<noindex>tags seem to have gone. My guess is one of the solutions above had worked but I must of had some sort of caching issue. Thanks for all your help.
