• When I first tried this plugin it appeared not to support markers. This was down to the way to use the plugin not being clear. After communication with the developers they have changed the way the plugin works and it is now much more intuitive.

    Brief Instructions:

    1) Go to WP Openstreetmap on the WordPress menu.
    2) Click “Add New Map”.
    3) Click on the Map Icon next to the red X.
    4) Use the + and – and drag the map to where you want to put a marker (Do not just click on the map) or search for an address using the search box.
    5) At the top of the page select the required marker. Name the marker. Add details you want to appear when you click the marker in Description (You can use html if you wish).
    6) Click on the map where you want the marker to be.
    7) Repeat from 4 to add more markers.
    8) Markers appear on the right hand side of the map. You can edit them here.
    9) Finally Use the + and – and drag the map so it shows how you will want it to show on your site. Click Save Map Settings. You are returned to the plugin front page where you can copy the shortcode to use on your site.

    Hi,

So you didn’t see the big red text under the desciption field that saying: “Click on the map where you want to put the marker“?

And the support thread you spoke is over 1 year old. Since we added this text to avoid these questions, and we had no one else.

So it’s not very fair to put a 1-star review for something very clearly displayed…

No, I didn’t see “Click on the map where you want to put the marker” because I didn’t get that far.

After reading your response I revisited the plugin. As I couldn’t see “Click on the map where you want to put the marker” I guessed perhaps there were multiple steps and pressed “save map”. Even after that it isn’t clear that you then have to click on the map to add markers until you hover over it.

I didn’t expect to have to press “save map” before being able to add markers, perhaps you if you have “Next” instead of “Save Map” on the first screen, things might be clearer. I am sure a lot of people will have given up because of lack of documentation.

I will now test the plugin and amend my review.

    Thanks for these information.

We agree that this can be confusing for some people and as this first step isn’t essential, we simply decided to remove it in version 1.40 just released today.

    Best regards.

Thanks for taking my feedback onboard. I have run teams of developers in the past so understand how ease of use if often overlooked and how alien creating documentation can be to developers.
As promised I have updated my review and I am currently using the plugin.

I have added instructions to my review. please feel free to copy and paste them to somewhere more useful.

    Best regards
    David

Thank you for your feedback, which has helped us improve our plugin, and for your honesty in your rating.

We’ll see if we put your instructions in the plugin in further version.

    Best regards.
