NextGEN Gallery Slideshow keeps loading (gzip enabled)

I have problems with the combination of NextGEN Gallery 1.9.10, WordPress 3.5 and the use of gzip.

If I disable gzip compression everything works fine ans slideshows are shown. If I enable gzip slideshows remain in ‘loading’ state….

Has anyone found a solution to this (other then disabling gzip ;-))?
