    I am using version 2.1.46 of the Nextgen Gallery plugin. We have 9 albums, 458 galleries and over 25000 images.

    We’ve been seeing 502 errors on our website. Our server support team has informed me:

    ============
    Your NextGen Gallery Plugin seems to be the culprit here. I would investigate your implementation of it as it seems to be running extremely long processes that we keep having to kill. The server itself isn’t under any load, and it’s health is good.
    ============

    On their recommendation, I tried using https://wordpress.org/plugins/nextgen-gallery-optimizer/ – however, that has also not helped.

    I asked them for error logs – but here’s what they had:

    =============
    Normally with 502 errors, they do not show up in our Apache error logs as these are long queries simply being killed on the server. You can definitely let the plugin developer know that the NextGen Gallery Plugin was processing long queries which was being killed on the server and resulted in 502 errors.
    =============

    Please help as the server has become very sluggish and keeps throwing these errors.

    On a related note, do you have any limits on the number of albums, galleries and images that the plugin will support?

    Thanks in advance

    @wp-mistress – The only real limits on the number of images, galleries, albums, etc. that NextGEN Gallery can support are those set within the server environment itself. We do have a 500 image default setting under Gallery > Other Options > Miscellaneous which is set to restrict the number of images being displayed but can easily be changed.

    If your web hosting support is reporting “long queries” then you could ask them to be more specific about them, as in what is the exact long query or queries the server environments are not able to handle.

    Also, if you wouldn’t mind, what are you seeing under Gallery > Overview for your Server Settings? There may be some suggestions we can make based on those environment values being displayed.

    Thanks!

    @cais,

    I will ask them the additional information.

    Meanwhile, do you have an email address where I can send this information to?

    Thanks!

    @wp-mistress – You can copy and paste the details here, they are fairly innocuous but if you prefer, please send us a Bug Report (https://imagely.com/report-bug/ … please reference this topic) so we can get a better look under the page at your site.

    Please include as many details as you can about your site and the issue at hand so we can move on this as fast as possible.

    If you do send a Bug Report it will probably also be best to continue this conversation there for the time being as well.

    Thanks!
