Hey Rochelle,
Can you give me the URL of your site please?
Thanks!
Hey,
That’s strange! What was the URL you used to get to the installation file and set up the initial configuration on your site?
Directly from wordpress.org 🙂
Sorry, I wasn’t clear!
When you went to run install.php, what was the full address that you used to get there? 🙂
I’m not sure I did!?? There you go, that gives me something to look into… I wonder which step I missed 🙂 I just followed the ” Famous 5 minute install”
OK getting closer… now it doesn’t like
Can’t select database
We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and password is okay) but not able to select the birthc_wordpress database.
Are you sure it exists?
Does the user birthc_user have permission to use the birthc_wordpress database?
On some systems the name of your database is prefixed with your username, so it would be like username_birthc_wordpress. Could that be the problem?
If you don’t know how to set up a database you should contact your host. If all else fails you may find help at the WordPress Support Forums.
Seems to me to exist!!!
OK be gentle with me, a real newbie.
I downloaded 4.1 and saved file. How do you open it so I can work with WP? I also purchased a canned program and same thing.

If you are trying to set up WP on your local computer, you need to set up a server environment first – see:
