New to WordPress

I installed wamp server on my desktop to be able to test and learn CMS programs. One I’m doing in particular is WordPress because I’m looking at transferring an old html site to a WordPress site. One of the first problems I’m unable to solve is that when I click on the homepage on the newly created site on localhost, it keeps going to http://localhost/ and displays the text “It Works”. Where do I go to change this so that it goes to the homepage of the site in question ?

Wp is great ! Although I haven’t yet come to understand all its capacity.
