New to blogging

Hi I am trying to start a new blog page with regards disability and when I go into site I am not sure which category to go into as there isn’t one for this. Should I use health or family? Also can anyone help me with my theme. Thanks

HI suemo,
You can choose the category as you wish, for example you choose health & family if it relates to health and disability, or social or travel or whatever is your secondary theme.
About the theme: Are you asking for help regarding the looks of your blog? That depends on what you wish to put there. If there are more photos, you’ll need a different theme than one with lot of writing. There are many themes (free and paid), you can see what you like and try few of them, that’ll help you make the decision. Eventually you’ll learn to customize your theme the way you like, and this forum is always here to help!

Thanks to you both. Do I have to install wordpress or can I just use it for my blog. I only have an iPad you see.
Start here, https://codex.wordpress.org/Getting_Started_with_WordPress but I strongly recommend starting with a wordpress.com blog.
Hi I have sorted my name out now for my blog and the subject is on disability issues. When I look for a category I can’t find one?
Hi could anyone please help me to set my blog up. I am not good at technical things and struggle as visually impaired. I have payed for a header for my name but even though I’ve read all the information I am struggling here. It’s talking about domain etc, I am lost. Can anyone HELP please as I’d really like to start blogging?

Since you’re technically illiterate, wordpress.com would be a better route for you, because they’ll host the site and handle the technical side for you, so all you have to do is focus on your blog.
If you follow through to the aforementioned link, you’ll be walked through the whole process.
I don’t understand what you mean category-wise, but not every directory contains every single category available; you have to be general or choose the closest, most relevant category sometimes.
Thanks for your reply. By catagory I meant when you chose what section to put your topic in. Whilst mine is on disability it doesn’t really fit under the health section. Also I’ve got name sorted so is that my domain. Sorry if I appear technically illiterate but I hoped this was the place for some helpful support. Apologies if I’m asking something that’s seems so simple to others!!
I was hoping someone could talk me through what to do. Is anyone out there that could?

WordPress is free software and this free, volunteer-staffed forum is the only support resource available via wordpress.org. If you would prefer a one-to-one discussion, please try
http://directory.codepoet.com/
or
http://jobs.wordpress.net/As I said previously, sometimes you have to be general.
WordPress.com has support for this, if you’re creating a blog through them: https://wordpress.com/help/contact The .com service isn’t totally the same as the .org service.
Looking through the categories, “Lifestyle” or “Health & Wellness” might be the best categories to generalize your blog under. I said “technically illiterate”, because you said you’re not good at technical things. The categorization doesn’t always fit your blog to a T. If I was creating a blog via the .com version of WordPress, I’d go with “Lifestyle”, then “General Family, Home, & Lifestyle”. The point of choosing a category is to be general, hence why there aren’t any specifics.
At the end of the day, it’s literally just a category you’ve put your blog in. It doesn’t mean you can’t blog about something else, too. Be general.
Thankyou!π
