Our system is set-up to send an e-mail notification to three people once the order is placed, however no e-mails are being sent. This featured had been working until about 2-3 weeks ago. Customers are also not receiving a confirmation e-mail.

I have had the same issue and is often tracked back to a php issue in wordpress. Have you tried MailGun as a email gateway? When we implemented MailGun it solved all of our email issues.
